Jošt Faganel is an entrepreneur with a passion for technology and innovation. He brings over 20 years of multidisciplinary entrepreneurial experience to the table. His experience covers areas such as software R&D, team building, innovation in large and small-scale organizations, sales, marketing, and fundraising.
Jošt was born in Slovenia, and studied Computer Science at the University of Ljubljana. He later completed management school at the IEDC-Bled School of management.
He started his career as a software engineer in HERMES SoftLab (now Comtrade Group), which at the time was the largest software engineering house in the Balkan region. There, he held various positions including software engineer, R&D manager and product manager, responsible for project deliverables to enterprise clients such as Hewlett Packard, Microsoft, and EMC. He led the expansion of the HERMES SoftLab in Mountain View, California, responsible for building new relationships with strategic clients including Oracle and Sun Microsystems, and nurturing the relationships with strategic clients.
Between 2003 and 2014 he held management, sales, and board positions in Actual IT Group, the largest independent IT services group in the Adriatic region, focused on IT outsourcing, SAP, and analytics. In this time, he grew group revenues from €5M to over €30M and drove three acquisitions. Before joining HighTechXL, he founded a Connected Car startup called ULU, which he led all the way from the initial idea to validation, initial development, customer traction and funding.
Jošt has lived in Boeblingen, Germany, Boston, USA, Dublin, Ireland, and recently Eindhoven, the Netherlands. He speaks Slovenian and English. He is married and is the father of two girls.
